I am pleased to share that the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) plans to launch the modernized, web-based application, SEDAR+, to the Canadian capital markets in February 2023.
From conversations, we know filers and investors are curious and excited about the new SEDAR+ experience. They’ve asked what’s required of them, how much notice they’ll have and, most importantly, that it doesn’t negatively impact busy filing seasons.
Rest assured, we’ve been listening.
The CSA chose February for three key reasons. First, it is one of the lowest volume filing periods. Second, it allows us to incorporate feedback from Pilot Program participants into our transition planning. Third, and most important, it provides the preparation time that organizations and individuals need to be ready for this major change.
In this edition of SEDAR+ Connection, we share the big picture view of the transition timeline including training, how organizations gain access to SEDAR+ and other support we’ll provide. We are committed to providing as smooth a transition as possible for all subscribing organizations and individual users.
This issue also takes a closer look at the changes coming to fee calculations and payments, and how SEDAR+ will improve access to the issuer information which investors need to make informed decisions.
Getting ready for SEDAR+
Moving organizations, individuals and their data to a new information platform is a complex process. Getting ready for SEDAR+ is going to take some time, attention and effort—from everyone.
Our transition outreach begins in September, with a focus on the steps that SEDAR subscribing organizations must take to have SEDAR+ access on day one.
As with any new technology, there will be a learning curve for organizations and individuals. Our job is to provide the resources and support you need to enable a smooth transition and positive experience with SEDAR+.
Thank you for your ongoing interest and engagement as we improve the CSA’s National Systems. I look forward to sharing updates from the Pilot and further details on next steps later this summer.
Until then, enjoy your summer, knowing the SEDAR+ Project Team is diligently working to ensure you are supported throughout the upcoming transition period.
