Toronto – The Canadian Securities Administrators
(CSA) has extended to February 16, 2009, the public comment period
for its consultation paper outlining securities regulatory proposals
related to the Canadian non-bank sponsored asset-backed commercial
paper (ABCP) market. The consultation paper entitled Securities
Regulatory Proposals Stemming from the 2007-08 Credit Market Turmoil
and its Effect on the ABCP Market in Canada was published on
October 6, 2008 with a comment period to end on December 20, 2008.
The CSA made the extension at the request of constituents.
The Consultation Paper is available on the websites of various
CSA members.
The CSA, the council of the securities regulators of Canada’s
provinces and territories, co-ordinates and harmonizes regulation
for the Canadian capital markets.
